I've never worked with a personal trainer before and I don't know what to expect.
Many people have no idea what to expect when meeting with a personal trainer. Even worse, many get their ideas of working with a personal trainer from television shows that often depict extreme exercises, rapid weight loss, and a lot of drama. You will find none of that at Elevation Functional Fitness.
I have some chronic health conditions. I'd like to work with a trainer but I have some concerns.
Before you ever begin any exercise program at Elevation Functional Fitness, we will sit down together and go over your health history in depth as it relates to exercise. Additionally, all clients go through an extensive physical evaluation to assess range of motion, muscular imbalances, and improper movement patterns, as well as overall strengths and weaknesses. We will begin your training by respecting where you are at physically, and gradually adapting your program as you advance accordingly.
I want to lose weight. I've tried before but I just can't seem to experience any long term success.
Losing weight is not easy. If it was, two thirds of the United States population would not be overweight or obese. Whether due to lack of knowledge, time, discipline, or a combination of those three, most people who set out to lose weight and keep it off fail. Over the years I have helped many people lose weight. There is no quick path to success, but by working together and employing tried and true methods, your goals can be realized.
I have chronic back pain.
The overwhelming majority of human beings will experience significant back pain in their lives. What a person does to aid in overcoming this is just as important as what that person does not do. For years I have told my clients "It's not just what I have you do, it's what I don't have you do". Just because someone is doing something in a gym and seems to experience success does not necessarily mean it's a good idea for you. Those clients with chronic back pain are encouraged to meet with their physician to determine exactly what the cause is. Once your doctor has cleared you for activity, you will begin a very conservative approach addressing any issues that may be exacerbating your condition. Muscular imbalances, weak muscles, tight muscles, stress, and improper movement patterns may be contributing to your back pain. A thorough assessment will be done with you to determine what areas must be addressed before a course of action and training protocols are determined.
